Will seeing "Avatar" give you a headache?
January 12, 2010
Telegraph, a British news source, recently reported that some eye health conditions, such as amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (a squint) might make it very difficult for some moviegoers to enjoy the effects of 3D movies, even with the help of special glasses.
The news source reports that the effects of the film even made some audience members sick.
"I can't bear watching things in 3D, I don't find it in any way relaxing," James Sutton, an optometrist, told the news source. "I have had migraine-style headaches from spending 15 minutes in a 3D cinema. Two hours of it could quite easily make you sick."
Some film buffs who wear prescription glasses might wonder how they'll be able to see 3D films, but the disposable glasses handed out at the box office should be able to fit comfortably over a pair of spectacles. Especially devoted cinemaphiles can even opt to purchase their own stylish and reusable 3D glasses from eyewear companies like Ray-Ban.
