Viewers are treated to a 3D Michael Jackson tribute at the Grammy Awards
February 1, 2010
Grammy viewers were treated to a novel experience when the Michael Jackson tribute was offered in 3D. Home viewers were able to pick up free 3D glasses at Target stores and tune in to the Grammy Awards to watch the scenes on their TV set come alive.
Even celebrities such as Beyonce and Katy Perry were seen rocking their shades during the performance. The 3D tribute was meant to be something the Grammys had never tried before. Singers such as Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood and Celine Dion performed in honor of the late singer.
3D has been a major trend among Hollywood recently. A number of movies ranging from Avatar to Up have been featured in a 3D format. Now, some believe that the technology will begin to be offered for home theaters.
Because of this, some companies have released prescription 3D glasses for those with poor eyesight. Check with your eye care provider for a custom pair of your own!
