Individuals are given eye exams in the mobile clinicIt is very important for individuals to seek out eye care specialists when they begin having vision problems. Unfortunately, not everyone can be properly treated - issues such as cost, specialist availability and insurance often deter patients. Because of this problem, some eye care specialists are lending a helping hand and volunteering to see those who would otherwise go untreated.

Transitions Optical and VSP Vision Care teamed up to begin their third mobile eye care clinic to offer vision screenings to those who need them, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The mobile clinic offers an exam room with the newest technologies as well as an eyeglass dispensary, which would allow individuals to pick up prescription eyeglasses if needed.

The mobile clinic made its first stop at Azalea Elementary school in St. Petersburg, Florida, where more than 50 students were given eye care exams. These students were prescreened for vision problems by Prevent Blindness Florida.

This initiative will be a five-year plan to help serve children and adults across the country who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend to their eye health problems.

According to the American Optometric Association, individuals should have their eyes examined every other year.ADNFCR-2615-ID-19675329-ADNFCR
