Sunglasses manufacturer enters 3D market

Polaroid Eyewear makes approximately 5 million pairs of lenses for shades every year - but this year they're adding a new design to their collection. The company will be creating 3D lenses that can be used in movie theaters or at home, according to HeraldSctoland.com.
The first 3D televisions are currently in stores, and three dimensional at-home viewing is likely to be a trend that will catch on in the next few years. Companies like Polaroid are busy preparing for the influx of customer demand.
However, some people are concerned that 3D viewing could pose a sanitation hazard and may cause blurry vision. According to VOANews.com, a study conducted at the University of California Berkeley found that 3D movies can cause eye strain.
"[When watching a 3D film,] you're taking that normal relationship which has been coupled in the brain for years and you're changing," martin Banks, a professor of optometry at the University, told the news source. "And what we showed is that can cause fatigue."
According to the American Optometric Association, eye strain can be reduced by taking frequent breaks when staring at a computer or television screen for long periods of time.
