Sunglasses are the perfect stocking stuffer
December 2, 2009
Sunglasses make a great Christmas present for almost anyone on your list. In fact, if you have someone who's hard to shop for, this could become a go-to option.
Not only will you be providing loved ones with stylish shades, but you'll also be protecting their eye health. The American Optometric Association recommends wearing sunglasses anytime you venture out into the sunlight to guard against glaucoma, advanced-macular degeneration and cataracts.
So how can you choose the perfect sunglasses for everyone? Keep in mind their activities. If you know someone who loves skiing and hiking, durable athletic-style glasses might make the best gift.
If you know someone who's always on the road, opt for sunglasses with polarized lenses, which will reduce glare and filter light to make seeing easier. These lenses are also helpful for fisherman.
When it comes to frame-style, try to choose a pair of glasses that will contrast with the shape of the gift-recipient's face. For example, someone with a strong jaw might look best in oval shades, and a person with a round face would look great in square frames.
