Study: Omega-3 fatty acids in formula could be good for your baby's eye health

New parents may want to consider putting omega-3 fatty acids in their child's formula, as a new study suggests that it could offer enormous benefits, including good eye health.
Findings published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition observed that infants who were given formula containing omega-3 fatty acids, which are a rich source of DHA, were found to have better vision. The scientists examined 244 formula-fed infants between one and nine days old. The babies were split into four different groups, with one group drinking regular formula and the other three drinking different amounts of DHA.
At a 12-month follow up, the infants vision was tested. It was found that the group with the highest amount of DHA in their formula had the best vision. However, it was noted that there was no variance in effect between the groups that had 0.64 percent and 0.96 percent of the nutrient.
According to the American Optometric Association, omega-3 fatty acids are an important nutrient in maintaining eye health.
