The program offers discounts for eye surgeryWhile some people may prefer to wear eyeglasses, other individuals may see frames as an inconvenience that prevents them for completing certain tasks.

The Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology has created a new program called Sight for Soldiers, which gives military soldiers a discount for all of their eye care needs, according to the Daily Iowan.

The program is available to Iowa National Guard Troops who have been sent to Afghanistan and have bad eye health. The goal is to offer a 50 percent discount for soldiers to receive Lasik eye surgery so they don't need to rely on eyeglasses in battle.

"It basically just makes it easier on the soldiers to not have to worry about wearing corrective eyewear in the combat zone," Major Kristian Dugger, an optometrist who leads the program in the Iowa Army National Guard, told the news provider.

Lasik eye surgery has the potential to correct the sight of those with poor vision. According to Lasik-Review.com, the treatment has a 98 percent success rate of restoring vision.ADNFCR-2615-ID-19652062-ADNFCR
