Presbyopia proves to be a condition that some cannot escape

While many people try to keep good eye health through diet and exercise, there are some conditions that people cannot escape.
The New York Times reports that no matter what people do to prevent it, presbyopia eventually makes it impossible to read fine print. The disease typically begins when people are in their 40s, and by the time they reach the age of 65, it's nearly impossible for the eye lens to zoom in on small print.
However, the news provider reports that there are certain contact lenses that can help treat the condition, which correct both distance and near vision issues at the same time. The problem with these multifocal contact lenses is that they are more expensive than regular contacts or bifocals, which is proving to be difficult for some people to handle.
Because this condition worsens with age, it's important that people get their eyes screened on a regular basis in an effort to pick up on any early developments. The American Optometric Association reports that adults should have their eyes checked every two years and then annually once the individuals is past the age of 60.
