Prada launches new collection of sunglasses

Prada recently held a lively launch party in New York City for the release of their new Swing Sunglasses Collection, Elite Traveler reports.

The sunglasses are a part of the label's Fall/Winter 2010 advertising campaign. The shades are new addition to Prada, focusing on sexy aesthetics and modern feminine qualities.

The Swing Sunglasses are designed with inspiration from 1950s shapes, but also combine the simplicity of past collections from the Italian label, including nods to several 1990s pieces. They include flowing lines, complimenting those with slender face shapes the best.

They will be available in late October and will retail for around $245.

Prada is also launching a contest involving comic book artists developing female heroines rocking a pair of the sleek new sunglasses. The winner of the contest will have their character featured in an upcoming Prada publication.

Sunglasses aren't just meant for summer. This sun is out during all seasons, and protecting our eyes from the harmful rays is paramount.

The American Optometric Association recommends sunglasses that screen out 75 to 90 percent of visible light and that the lenses be void of imperfections.
