Our prescription eyeglasses effect how the world perceives us
November 18, 2009
On CBSNews.com's The Tomorrow Show, host Mo Rocca recently explored the stigma of glasses in our society. The show centered on the fact that while 15 years ago glasses weren't considered flattering, but the right frames can serve as a style-enhancing accessory.
Rocca claims that, "When you're putting on eyeglasses, you're doing much more than seeing 20/20."
The Moscot brothers, who run their family business, an eyeglasses shop which has been around for 94 years, told Rocca that people are defined by their eyeglasses. The brothers cite Andy Warhol, Elvis Costello and Tina Fey as examples of how eyeglasses can define a person.
If glasses impact how the world sees us, how can we be sure that we choose the right ones? Experts report that there are three keys to selecting the right specs. First, make sure that they emphasize your favorite feature. If you have blue eyes, make the frames blue. If you have a great nose, make sure that the bridge of your glasses highlight that, suggests allaboutvision.com
Experts also suggest choosing a frame shape that contrasts with the lines of your face, and making sure that the specs are in scale with your face size, according to the news source.
