Celebrities have been stepping out in some classic frame styles this fall, so stock up before the holidays to make sure that you arrive at daytime parties in style.

Nicole Kidman has recently been spotted in Paris wearing a pair of classic aviator frames by Alex and Chloe. The retro style has been very popular this season, perhaps in part because of the release of Amelia, a biopic starring Hillary Swank, which documents the life of Amelia Earhart.

The famed aviator was a fashion icon in her day. She made the sunglasses, bomber jackets and hats sported by pilots a part of mainstream fashion, Newsday reports. Jessica Alba and Fergie are among a host of other celebs spotted in the sporty style.

Consumers may not be flying planes in their aviators, but opting for sunglasses with polarized lenses could help reduce glare when performing activities like driving, skiing or fishing.

The American Optometric Association recommends picking sunglasses with UV-protective lenses to reduce the chance of eye health problems later in life. This is easy to do with big, vintage-style frames that lend a glamorous look to almost every outfit.

Large sunglasses could also help to protect the skin around your eyes from sun damage. Style mavens like Cate Blanchett, Jessica Simpson and Kate Hudson have been out and about in oversized frames.
