Nerdy glasses are all the rage

While many people may go out of their way to avoid looking "geeky," when it comes to eyewear, a nerdy look can be very chic. According to The Houston Chronicle, over-sized vintage frames are very popular among fashionistas.
"The look has been around for men for a few years, but it's starting to become more fashionable for women," Kristie Weiss, a spokesperson for the Vision Council, told the news source. "It has a 1950s feel, sort of Mad Men inspired."
A few members of Hollywood's elite have gotten in on this craze. Celebrities such as Britney Spears, Kelly Osbourne, Kevin Bacon and Justin Timberlake have all been spotted donning the "geek chic" style.
Several prominent brands have released glasses for those who want to channel their inner librarian. Marc Jacobs, Prada and Fred Flare have all created eyewear for the geeks among us. There are even some designers making the trendy spectacles for kids heading back to school.
Children who exhibit vision problems, such as frequent blinking, seeing double, losing their place when reading or a short attention span, should be taken to a professional for a complete eye exam, according to the American Optometric Association.
