Mykita and Halston team up to create vintage-style sunglasses
November 17, 2009
Some of the most iconic looks from the seventies - round sunglasses and long dresses - were designed by Halston (Roy Halston Frowick). Marios Schwab, who currently runs the fashion label, has just announced a collaboration with sunglasses brand Mykita, according to The Independent.
The news source reports that Mykita is already a favorite line among celebs like Brad Pitt, and that Schwab's designs are a throwback to the classic round sunglasses sported by musicians like Janis Joplin and John Lennon.
The round wire frames are made from stainless steel and come in a variety of colors like pink, green, purple and black, The Independent states. Some have a very sleek shape, and others boast a deconstructed, aviator-style bridge.
Sunglasses can spice up any ensemble, but you should make sure that they get the job done right and shield your eyes from UV rays, which can damage your retina and lead to Glaucoma and Cataracts, according to the American Optometric Association.
Check for a UV label before purchasing shades, and make sure that the lenses boast at least 99 percent UV protection.
