Moms need eye protection too

Moms need eye protection tooSpring is in the air, which means many kids will be heading outside to play in the backyard and on playgrounds. While many parents know that it's important to keep kids' eyes and skin protected from the sun, moms should remember to don their own pair of sunglasses as well, according to The Perry Hall Patch.

Sunglasses are not only a useful tool to protect against harmful UV-radiation, they are also a stylish accessory. Whether parents choose polarized lenses or aviator frames, there are a variety of styles available to suit one's needs.

In addition, sunglasses can help prevent crow's feet. The less time one spends squinting into the sun while supervising a day trip to a playground, the less likely one is to have wrinkling around the eyes, according to the news source.

Fashionable eyewear can also protect the eyes from glare and particles in the air, and they have been known to reduce headaches and provide clearer vision on very sunny days.

The American Optometric Association recommends individuals purchase sunglasses that screen out 99 to 100 percent of UV-A and UV-B radiation. In addition, the lenses should block out 75 to 90 percent of all visible light.
