Lions Club holds golf tournament to purchase of eyeglasses
April 7, 2010
The Lions Club is a global organization that stresses the importance of ensuring that those who need eye care receive it. The group works with a number of organizations that help those in need either receive prescription eyeglasses or have eye care exams they otherwise would not be able to afford.
Local golfers will be teeing off for the 12th Annual Jamie Bray Memorial Golf Classic to benefit the blind, according to the Cabin. The event will be held at the Centennial Valley Golf Course in Arkansas. Proceeds from the competition will go toward providing eyeglasses to the less fortunate and funding donations to several organizations, including Lions World Services for the Blind.
"We have been truly blessed here in our community to have great support by local golfers, many very good and some who only play one time each year to help pay for sight-related services," Chairman Lion, Marty Faggetti, told the news provider.
The Lions Club began their initiative in 1917 and has since grown to 45,000 clubs across the country. There are currently more than 1.3 million members.
