One organization is showcasing local talent to raise funds in order to provide eye care to less fortunate individuals.
New Eyes for the Needy, an organization that has helped more than 7,00,000 low-income people receive eyeglasses, will be holding a concert in Summit, New Jersey, that will showcase young and talented musicians, according to NorthJersey.com.
The charity concert will involve more than 20 local teens who are musically gifted, and the proceeds will go towards providing eyeglasses to the less fortunate.
"We sold out last year's concert, raising $8,000 that helped purchase 125 pairs of glasses for kids around the country who otherwise couldn't afford them," Sam Taggart, a concert committee chair told the news provider. "We hope we can do even more this year. There will be a few changes and a few more bands, so the audience can get an even better show!"
The organization has been around since 1932 and distributes vouchers for free eyeglasses to people who cannot afford their own eye care, or are not able to receive health insurance.
