Is buying eyeglasses online a new trend?

Purchasing eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses online is apparently a hot new trend among internet shoppers.

A recent posting on Popular-Hobbies.info highlighted the ease and affordability of purchasing glasses online by enlisting the help of an eager online shopper named Brian, who says he already has purchased more than 200 pairs of eyeglasses online.

"The internet suppliers don't have to pay expensive rent in top locations, they don't have large stocks or expensive equipment. Most of the online suppliers don't sell the top fashion names either, and instead carry no-name models or models from unknown designers," Brian told the website.

He explained that ordering online is simple - just choose your style, fill out the prescription information from your eye doctor or optometrist and send a payment.

"The online suppliers have the same kind of lenses a normal shop does, and you can find extra thin glasses, progressive glasses and even prescription sunglasses," he explained.

In addition, fans of purchasing online say that one of the best advantages is the price. Brian explained that he could have purchased about 20 pairs of glasses at a regular eyeglass store for what he pays online.

The American Optometric Association recommends that adults aged 19 to 40 receive an eye exam at least every two years. It is especially important to get a comprehensive eye exam before investing in new eyeglasses.
