Heidi Montag dons sunglasses in Costa Rica
August 27, 2010
Heidi Montag, the blond cutie from The Hills, is currently vacationing in sunny Costa Rica. The starlet, who recently underwent some major plastic surgery, tweeted that she donned glasses for the first time since the procedure, according to The Huffington Post.
"Wearing sunglasses for the first time since my surgery! SCARY! Feels so weird!" Montag posted on her twitter feed. After ten plastic surgery procedures, it's not surprising that she may have been wincing when putting on the eyewear.
Still, when traveling in such a sunny region, it's essential that one wears sunglasses to protect their eyes from dangerous UV-A and UV-B rays, which can lead to several vision complications.
Beach destinations can pose particular risks to one's eye health, as the bright sand and water reflect the light. Additionally, some seaside locations may offer little protection from the direct sunlight, which can endanger beach-goers skin and vision.
The American Optometric Association recommends that people who are looking for a new pair of sunglasses purchase specs that block out 75 to 90 percent of all visible light and feature gray lenses for proper color recognition.
