Greet the New Year with beautiful, healthy eyes

The American Optometric Association suggests that Americans eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to benefit their eye health.
So we know that we should be putting plenty of veggies in our bodies, but will placing slices of cucumbers over your eyes really improve your appearance? Actually, yes, and potatoes and damp tea bags will have a similar affect, according Dr. Rupal Shah, an eye doctor who has performed over 15,000 laser-eye surgeries.
Simply lie down and place your preferred eye-soothing product over your closed eyes for approximately twenty minutes. You'll look refreshed and well-rested, according to the eye expert.
Another way to ensure that your peepers look fresh for 2010 is to avoid the eyestrain associated with computer vision syndrome (CVS). The American Optometric Association suggests taking frequent breaks to rest your eyes and reduce your chances of computer-related vision problems.
And of course, women who would like to ramp-up their eyes can also apply makeup. However, the American Academy of Ophthalmology urges women to use caution when applying products, as some toiletries contain chemicals that can be harmful to your eye health.
"Make sure that no excessive product enters the eyes, and you can use products which have been tested properly," says Dr. Shah.
