Free vision screening kiosks in Sweetbay supermarkets
September 3, 2010
Center for Sight, a multi-physician vision, cosmetic and skin care practice located in Southwest Florida, has announced that it will be installing several interactive vision screening kiosks in various Sweetbay supermarkets, according to VEE2.net.
The kiosks utilize award-winning technology to help provide personalized vision health information to those that take the five minutes to complete the free screening.
The kiosks are free to use and can give customers a quick and concise assessment of both near and distance vision. Consumers who enter the kiosk use a touch screen to access a letter recognition eye-chart exam, then answer a series of questions about their lifestyle.
"Vision changes can go unnoticed for years," Dr William Lahners of Center for Sight told the news source. "Our goal is to raise awareness of eye health issues, beyond vision correction, and take steps to minimize these long term risks. Half of all age-related blindness is preventable if eye problems are detected and treated early."
The American Optometric Association urges adults to undergo a full eye exam at least once every two years.
