Eyeglasses gone wrong
November 23, 2009
Do your eyeglasses feel a little off? It might not be your prescription it could be that they were not properly fitted by your optician.
A host of eye care professionals assist you in obtaining the correct prescription eyeglasses. An experiment that ABC15, an ABC affiliate, conducted suggests that even if your optometrist gets your prescription right, an optician the person who measures you while you try on different frames could make a mistake that will affect your vision or comfort. In fact, that might more than likely be the case.
For the experiment, Kara White, a student who requires prescription eyeglasses, headed into five leading eyeglasses retailers to be fitted: EyeMasters, LensCrafters, America's Best, Nationwide Vision, and Eyeglass World. In all five cases, there was an error in the prescription or fit of the eyeglasses that White received at the end of the process.
Small issues, like eyeglasses which are too wide to be worn comfortably, are easily corrected. Larger problems can include errors in the way that the lenses were fitted into the eyeglasses' frames.
If your eyeglasses feel uncomfortable, or you are experiencing frequent headaches, seek out the advice of an eye care professional a quick fix could make a big difference in the way you see.
