Jewelry company David Yurman has decided to take their much beloved aesthetic from their jewelry line and apply it to eyewear, Luxist.com reports.

In a recent interview, Evan Yurman, next in line for the jewelry empire, gave some insight into why the company has decided to add sunglasses to their portfolio.

"Eyewear was a natural extension for us. We consider it jewelry for the eyes, so we created a collection that perfectly reflects and complements our jewelry," he told the news provider.

Yurman had a hand in designing the collection, adding that the type of woman who would fall in love with these showstoppers is one who has "an innate sense of style and who appreciates quality."

A pair of shades from the collection feature two amethyst stones at the temple of the frames. These stunning specs retail for $695.

With sunglasses becoming ever so popular among the fashion crowd, it should be noted that they are more than a stylish accessory.

Sunglasses help prevent damage from occurring due to harsh UV rays. Conditions like cataracts and glaucoma may develop after prolonged exposure to the sun. The American Optometric Association recommends individuals don a pair of sunglasses when leaving the house on a sunny day.ADNFCR-2615-ID-19867916-ADNFCR
