The bid for the location of the 2015 Lions Club convention is underway, and Cincinnati, Ohio, is looking hoping to get in the running by showing their support for the club's endeavors.
The five-day event has the potential to book up to 36,000 hotel room nights, which would bolster the area's tourism economy, according to Cincinnati.com. The total economic impact has the potential to reach between $7.4 million and $10.5 million during the five day event.
"We are succeeding in showing the nation and the world that Cincinnati, U.S.A., is a welcoming, exciting and memorable destination prepared to host major convention groups," Cincinnati USA convention and visitors bureau CEO Dan Lincoln told the news provider.
As a way to support the Lions Club for their dedication to improving eye health, the city of Cincinnati has collected 5,000 pairs of eyeglasses to donate to the organization as a thank you for even being considered to host the event.
The Lions Club has been collecting eyeglasses for more than 80 years, however the program was not officially adopted by the organization until 1994, according to the club's website.
