Beckham models sunglasses
November 12, 2010
Most savvy consumers know that buying designer eyeglasses isn't necessary when trying to achieve a designer-inspired look. Instead, individuals can find more inexpensive versions of these often pricey glasses and sunglasses and still look great.
Fashion icon and designer (and former Spice Girl) Victoria Beckham recently launched a line of sunglasses and enlisted the help of her famous husband to model them for free.
The designer snapped a picture of pro soccer player David Beckham wearing a pair of her shades, along with a knit hat and undershirt to thousands of her followers on Twitter. (Usually, Beckham commands millions as a product pitchman!)
He was wearing a pair of aviator-inspired sunglasses for the marketing photo.
Other aviator glasses are popular this season as well as square and rectangular-shaped lenses.
Popular finishes include gold and other metals.
When it comes to choosing sunglasses, the American Optometric Association recommends individuals choose protection over style, however.
In addition to looking for shades that offer at least 99 percent protection from ultraviolet radiation, experts say they should screen out 75 to 90 percent of visible light.
Grey lenses are best for proper color recognition and lenses should also be free of distortion and imperfections.
