3D media can be fun, but also might cause eye strain

Although 3D movies may be interactive and a lot of fun, they could be damaging to your eye health and cause other discomforts.
This year, despite the fact that James Cameron's Avatar has shattered box office records and become a front runner for countless awards, some optometrists believe that 3D films such as Avatar could cause eye strain which may ultimately lead and to painful headaches, according to VOANews.com.
"You have to concentrate your eyes to something near, but focus your eyes on something far," Martin Banks, a professor of optometry at Berkeley, told the news source. "So you have to break that normal coupling between avergence and accommodation."
Banks goes on to say that this problem could ultimately be detrimental to eye health and cause blurred vision.
If you begin to experience blurred vision, you may want to consult with an eye care physician, as it may be a sign of something more serious such glaucoma or age-related macular degeneration. According to the American Optometric Association, individuals should have their eyes checked every other year.
