007's sunglasses to be auctioned off at Christie's
November 24, 2009
Christies auction house in London is set to auction off a pair of Tom Ford designer sunglasses that Daniel Craig wore to portray James Bond in last year's Quantum of Solace, according to Bloomberg.com.
The glasses could go for as much as $2,500, according the news source. That's a lot of money, even for Tom Ford glasses. But if they make the wearer as preternaturally suave as 007, perhaps they're worth the money.
Though the pricey shades are outside of most people's price range, investing in a pair of quality sunglasses is a good idea. The American Optometric Association recommends wearing sunglasses with UV protection to guard against eye health problems like glaucoma, cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Of course, the right pair will also make you look cool.
The glasses are being offered as part of Christie's International's popular-culture sale. Other cinematic artifacts on the auction block include the original skeleton of King Kong from David O. Selznick's 1933 film, and a black silk gown that Audrey Hepburn wore in Paris When It Sizzles.
