Help TopicsAstigmatismAstigmatism is a condition in which light rays entering the eye come to a focus in two different locations near the retina (see the blue dots in the diagram below). This is the result of two different corneal curvatures (causing the two focus points). Depending on the magnitude of the astigmatism, objects can be blurry at all distances. Astigmatism is treated with prescription eyeglasses, soft toric contact lenses, RGP ("hard") contact lenses, or refractive surgery.
