Was it a fashion statement, or does Brad Pitt really wear reading glasses?
The actor, well known for his fashionable sunglasses eyewear, was recently spotted visiting his girlfriend, Angelina Jolie, on the set of a movie in Budapest, Hungary, wearing wire-rimmed reading eyeglasses.
The 46-year old actor may be suffering from presbyopia, which is a vision condition in which the crystalline lens of the eye loses its flexibility, making it difficult for people to focus on close objects.
According to the American Optometric Association, the condition is a natural part of the aging process of the eye and usually becomes noticeable when people are in their mid-40s.
Signs of presbyopia include the tendency to hold reading materials at arm’s length, blurred vision at normal reading distance and eye fatigue along with headaches when doing close work.
Individuals who may be suffering from the condition should see their optometrist for a thorough eye exam. Reading glasses, bifocals, trifocals or contact lenses may be prescribed to help relieve the symptoms of the condition.
Individuals who need reading glasses may only need to wear them for close work like reading, but may find that wearing them all the time is more convenient and beneficial.
